Top Pick Daniel Jones Signs With Giants

The Giants will open training camp Tuesday with their quarterback of the future on the field.

Big Blue announced Monday night they have signed first-round draft pick Daniel Jones. The four-year contract is believed to be worth $25.7 million with a $16.7 million signing bonus, according to Spotrac.com.

The Giants used the sixth overall pick in April's draft on the former Duke quarterback. The 6-foot-5 221-pounder is expected to begin his career backing up Eli Manning. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Monday that the Giants don't "really have an open quarterback competition," despite comments by coach Pat Shurmur this offseason that suggested Jones might have a chance to win the starting job.

The Giants now have all 10 of their draft picks under contract. Rookies and select veterans will practice for the first time Tuesday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The rest of the veterans will report Wednesday and begin practicing Thursday.
