The numbers are in – and while they're down a little bit, the Yankees are still the favorite to win the American League and be the league's best team, while the Mets are still projected to be on the north side of the middle line.
Betonline.ag has released their latest MLB World Series odds and over/under totals for 2021, and while the Yankees are no longer the World Series favorites, they've only been downgraded to co-favorite status, tied with the Dodgers at 4/1 for the best odds to win the Fall Classic.
The Yankees had been 7/2 back in February and 13/4 last December after opening 12/1 on the day following the World Series, so while it's a slight down-tick, it's still tops in the league.
The Mets, meanwhile, clock in at 22/1, also a slight downgrade from their previous odds of 16/1 in February and December and even the 14/1 they started at after the World Series, but they still have the ninth-best odds in the league.
As far as win/loss totals, the Yankees' 36 ½ win over/under remains best in the AL and second-best in MLB behind the Dodgers (37 ½), while the Mets remain set at 32 ½ wins; that a mark that has them third in their division behind the Nationals' and Braves' tie at 33 ½ but is also fourth overall in the NL, meaning that, if these numbers hold to form – we know, they can't, you can't win half a game – but if they hold, the Mets would be facing a Braves/Nationals divisional playoff loser in the Wild Card Game.
