Aaron Boone's tirade not only got him tossed from the first game of Thursday's doubleheader, but it'll keep him out of Friday night's game as well.
Major League Baseball suspended Boone for one game and fined him an undisclosed sum for "his inappropriate actions, including contact with the home plate umpire."
Boone was ejected in the second inning after he complained to umpire Brennan Miller from the dugout following Brett Gardner being called out on strikes and an outside pitch to DJ LeMahieu being called a strike. After being tossed, Boone stormed out of the dugout, got in Miller's face and began shouting: "My guys are f------ savages in that f------ box, right? And you’re having a piece of s--- start to this game. I feel bad for you, but f------ get better."
Miller, umpiring just his fifth game behind the plate, had also called out Aaron Judge on strikes in the first inning.
The Yankees went on to win the game 6-2. They open a three-game home series agains the Rockies at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
