The New York Yankees have acquired catcher Rob Brantly from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations, and assigned Brantly to the Alternate Site in Scranton as part of the 60-man player pool.
Brantly, 31, was part of the Giants’ opening day roster, but appeared in only one game (going 0-for-3) before being designated for assignment on July 28 and accepting an assignment to the Giants’ Alternate Site on August 1.
For his career, Brantly is a .228 hitter in 128 games over parts of six seasons with the Marlins, White Sox, Phillies, and that one game in San Francisco.
