LAS VEGAS (WFAN) -- The Yankees are among the teams that will meet soon with free agent shortstop Manny Machado, WFAN baseball insider Jon Heyman reported.
The White Sox and Phillies will also sit down with the four-time All-Star. There are also three "mystery teams" that are possibly in the mix, Heyman reported.
Yanks, White Sox and Phillies are 3 teams that will meet with Manny Machado. The 3 alleged mystery teams remain so.
— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 11, 2018Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters Monday at the winter meetings in Las Vegas that he's talked with Machado's representatives.
In an interview on WFAN last month, Cashman spoke glowingly about Machado.

"We had a chance to see him on the front line against us for the Orioles for way too long, since he was drafted in the first round by them," Cashman said. "And he's been banging away against us both offensively and securing outs defensively. He's a tremendous player."
Of course, Machado's "I'm no Johnny Hustle" comments will likely be a topic of discussion when he meets with teams. Last month, Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner called the remarks "troubling," adding, "That ain't going to sell where we play baseball." But Steinbrenner said he'd leave it to Cashman to ultimately make a decision on whether to pursue Machado.
Machado, 26, hit .297 with 37 home runs and 107 RBIs last season for the Orioles and Dodgers.
The Yankees currently have Didi Gregorius at shortstop and Miguel Andujar at third base. But Gregorius will be out until June to August after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and the Bombers are reportedly open to trading Andujar.
