— New York Yankees (@Yankees) February 25, 2019Pettitte pitched 18 seasons in the majors from 1995 to 2013 -- 15 of those years with the Yankees.
The left-hander, along with Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera, was a member of the Yankees' famed "Core Four" and helped the Bronx Bombers win five World Series. A three-time All-Star, Pettitte went 256-153 with a 3.85 ERA and 2,448 strikeouts over his career, which included three years with the Houston Astros. His 19 postseason wins are the most in baseball history.
It's unclear what exactly Pettitte's new role will entail.
