Yankees baseball is coming back.
The Bronx Bombers will play intrasquad games at Yankee Stadium on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET this week. The YES Network will air coverage for both games from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
It will be the first game action for the Yankees since March 12 when MLB suspended the remainder of spring training and the start of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Yankees are scheduled to open the MLB season on July 23 against the defending World Series champion Washington Nationals. They reported to camp at the end of last week and held their first on-field workouts on Saturday and Sunday.
The workouts did not come without issues, though.
There was a scary moment on Saturday when Masahiro Tanaka was taken to the hospital after he was hit in the head with a line drive off the bat of Giancarlo Stanton.
Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu and pitcher Luis Cessa also both tested positive for COVID-19 and are self-isolating.
On Sunday, Brett Gardner said he was remaining optimistic about the season, but expressed caution about everything going according to plan.
No Yankees are expected to opt out of the season.
