The Yankees have traded left-handed relief pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr. to the Seattle Mariners.
New York is receiving international signing bonus pool money in the deal, the team announced Monday.
New York designated Cortes, 24, for assignment last week as it added seven players to its 40-man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 draft.
Cortes appeared in 33 games last season, going 5-1 with a 5.67 ERA. Over 66 2/3 innings, he had 69 strikeouts and 28 walks.
