The Yankees along with the Astros, Padres and Brewers are all reportedly interested in trading for Noah Syndergaard, according to SNY's Andy Martino.
It isn't expected that the Mets will trade Syndergaard before the July 31 trade deadline, but teams are scouting him and calling the Mets. With two years still under team control, Syndergaard is a valuable commodity for teams needing a starting pitcher.
The Mets and Yankees are skeptical that a trade would happen. A return would potentially start with Yankees pitching prospect Deivi Garcia and likely another player or two.
It seems more likely that if the Mets did trade their hard-throwing righty, it would come this winter instead. Syndergaard is making $6 million this season and with two years under team control, won't cost teams much for what he brings to the table as a No .1/No. 2 starter.
Syndergaard struggled at the start of the season, but has been pitching better of late. He's 7-4 with a 4.36 ERA in 19 starts. "Thor" has 118 strikeouts in 119 2/3 innings pitched and a WHIP of 1.23. He's in his fifth season with the Mets, posting a career ERA of 3.20 ERA.
