For the fifth consecutive week, the Giants' defense will be without their top pass rusher.
New York ruled Olivier Vernon out for the team's Week 5 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
Vernon is yet to make his season debut after suffering a high ankle sprain during the preseason.
Head coach Pat Shurmur spoke to the media Friday and said Vernon did not suffer any setbacks this week and was very close to returning. The team expects to have him back for its Week 6 game against the Eagles.
Tight end Evan Engram has also been ruled out for the second straight week.
No other players were listed on the injury report, meaning the team will likely get cornerback Eli Apple and wide receiver Cody Latimer back for Week 5. Both players sat out New York's loss to the Saints last weekend.
