NEW YORK (WFAN) - Finally a sliver of good news for Knicks fans.

In a press release sent out Friday afternoon, the Knicks announced that Kristaps Porzingis underwent an evaluation by the team's medical staff, who revealed that his knee is healing well and that the franchise's star player is making good progress in his rehab from a torn ACL.

The Knicks went on to state that as soon as he hits the remaining rehab benchmarks, Porzingis will move on to on-court team drills and activities.

There is still no timetable for a return to game action, but the 7-foot-3 All-Star will be re-evaluated again in mid-February.

"We feel good about the progress but we're still a ways away," Knicks president Steve Mills told reporters Friday afternoon.

Porzingis suffered the torn ACL on February 6. Following the injury, reports indicated that the 23-year-old was expected to be sidelined for at least 10 months.
