NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Many analysts and fans believe the Giants have a great opportunity to secure Eli Manning's successor with the second overall pick in next month's draft. The Giants, however, aren't so sure, according to one report.

The New York Post's Paul Schwartz reported the team's front office is not enamored with anyone from this year's quarterback draft class, headlined by USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, Wyoming's Josh Allen and Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield.

"The Giants see the success of this year's group as more hope than expectation," Schwartz wrote.

Schwartz said that the Giants' final draft board likely won't include any QBs among the top three. They are apparently higher on Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson and North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb.

Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has said he hopes to land a player at No. 2 whom he envisions as a future Hall of Famer, a bar Darnold, Rosen and Allen apparently fall short of meeting.

Big Blue also isn't desperate to find a quarterback, reportedly believing Manning has two good years left in him.

So might the Giants trade down? Schwartz reported that Gettleman doesn't nessarily subscribe to the philosophy that they must draft a QB or trade out of the spot, noting he has previously talked about not getting "too cute."

If the Denver Broncos, who hold the fifth overall pick, made the Giants an offer that blew them away, Gettleman would definitely consider it, especially if he thought he could still take Nelson at No. 5, Schwartz wrote.

The Buffalo Bills might also try to trade up. But even if they offered the 12th and 22nd overall picks in the first round, two second-rounders this year and a second-rounder next year, Gettleman would hold out for Buffalo's first-round pick next year, Schwartz reported.
