It looked as if the Giants were heading towards a full-on fire sale following the trades of Eli Apple and Damon Harrison.

Despite dealing two of the team's starters in less than week, which many around the league believed was the franchise raising the white flag on the season, New York decided to keep one of its top defensive players and possible franchise cornerstones.

General manager Dave Gettleman received several offers for talented young safety Landon Collins, but decided against trading the two-time Pro Bowler.

Reports indicate the Giants were looking for at least a second round pick in 2019, as well as another low-round pick in 2020, but no team is believed to have offered Big Blue more than a third round pick.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are rumored to be two of the teams that were in on Collins prior to Tuesday's 4 p.m. trade deadline.

Collins is one of the Giants' most talented players on the defensive side of the ball. The 2016 All-Pro safety has 62 combined tackles and one forced fumble this season, in addition to four passes defended.

The 24-year-old is in the final year of his rookie contract. There has not appeared to be any progress yet between the team and Collins on a long-term contract extension.

If the two sides cannot agree to a new deal, New York could use the franchise tag on the talented safety. This would likely cost at least $12 million for the 2019 season.
