The Yankees have been bit hard by the injury bug in the early weeks of the 2019 season. With Giancarlo Stanton, Didi Gregorius, Miguel Andujar, Aaron Hicks, Luis Severino, CC Sabathia and Dellin Betances already on the injury list, infielder Troy Tulowitzki is the latest banged-up Bomber.

Tulowitzki exited Wednesday's home game against Detroit after three innings. The team later announced that he suffered a left calf strain. He was sent to New York Presbyterian Hospital for further testing.

Tyler Wade entered the game at second base and Gleyber Torres took over at shortstop.

Tulowitzki signed with the Yankees for the league's minimum salary in January. He missed the entirety of the 2018 season and only managed to play 66 games for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017.

Manager Aaron Boone said following the completion of Wednesday's game that Tulowitzki is "almost certainly" heading to the injured list.

Boone said Tulo has a low grade strain of the left calf and will almost certainly head to the I.L.
