Virginia Tech is on the prowl for a new head coach after Buzz Williams bolted for the Texas A&M head coaching job. The top name on the Hokies' list might be Seton Hall's Kevin Willard, according to WFAN college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.

Sources: Seton Hall's Kevin Willard is expected to be a primary target to replace Buzz Williams at Virginia Tech. Hokies' AD Whit Babcock has been prepared for this departure and has had a list of potential candidates for weeks. #shbb

An unnamed source told Adam Zagoria of SNY and The New York Times, "It's Kevin's job if he wants it" and "Virginia Tech will pay." Willard currently makes close to $2 million a year with Seton Hall. Williams was reportedly earning around $3 million a year at Virginia Tech. It would be a nice pay raise for Willard and a chance to coach a bigger program.

Willard, 43, has made the NCAA Tournament four straight years at Seton Hall and is 169-126 in his nine seasons there. He also won the 2016 Big East Tournament championship.

There is the potential that Willard could stick around in New Jersey. He has star forward Myles Powell returning for his senior season and a potential top-25 team coming back in the fall. It should make for an interesting decision for Willard.
