The Yankees suffered a beatdown this weekend in Boston by the Red Sox. They went to Boston down 5 1/2 games in the AL East and leave 9 1/2 games back as any chance of winning the division has slipped away from them.

Chris Carlin and Maggie Gray reacted on WFAN Monday to the four-game sweep.

"We learned that the Yankees are completely overmatched by the Boston Red Sox right now," Gray said. "Right now, the Yankees are a mediocre baseball team. Right now, the Yankees are absolutely no threat to the Boston Red Sox. Right now, the Yankees have to stop looking at the division and just focus on their own house and getting their own house in order. The Red Sox look like a team built for the postseason."

"The Yankees were completely outclassed," Carlin said. I thought at times, intimidated. Remarkably poor play. The Yankees didn't remotely make them work other than a little bit last night against Price. The Red Sox themselves made the Yankees pitchers work exceptionally hard all weekend long. Remember when I said the Yankees may not be a mentally tough team? Was I proven wrong this weekend? What did I miss? They did not look like a team that can handle adversity in the slightest. Division is over. We can forget about that. They have an identity crisis. They have to figure out what they are."
