The Yankees have activated Giancarlo Stanton from the 10-day injured list, the team announcd on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

To make room on the roster, New York has optioned outfielder Mike Tauchman to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

It was a long stay on the IL for the outfielder, as it has been almost three months since the slugger was in the Yankees' lineup.

Stanton last appeared in a game for New York on March 31 when he suffered a strained left bicep.

After beginning his rehab assignment in mid-May, the former NL MVP suffered a strained left calf in his first minor league game.

The 29-year-old played in only three games before suffering the original injury, going 2-for-8 with seven walks in 15 plate appearances.

Stanton's return will be a welcome addition to the Bronx Bombers' lineup, and the team should be getting another familiar face back later this week as well.

Aaron Judge, out since April 20 with a left oblique strain, is expected to return to the Yankees sometime in the next few days.

Tauchman did not do much in his latest stint with New York, going 1-for-9 with a walk in three games.

In 37 games this season, the 28-year-old is hitting .202 with four home runs and 13 RBIs.
