Another one bites the dust for the Yankees. The team announced Thursday that they have placed first baseman/DH Kendrys Morales on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain.
They recalled outfielder Mike Tauchman and left-handed reliever Nestor Cortes Jr. from triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre. This comes after the sent down southpaw Stephen Tarpley on Wednedsday.
Morales was hitting just .177 with one homer and five RBIs in 62 at bats for the Bronx Bombers.
Tauchman returns to the team after getting time starting in the outfielder earlier in the season. The 28-year-old was hitting .211 with four homers and 13 RBIs in 95 at bats.
Cortes Jr. has tossed 14 innings in relief for the Yankees this season to the tune of a 3.86 ERA with 15 strikeouts.
