The Yankees have called up Clint Frazier.

The team announced Tuesday that the 23-year-old outfielder has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees open a two-game series on the road Tuesday night against the Washington Nationals.

Frazier started the season on the disabled list after suffering a concussion in spring training when he hit his head on a chain-link fence while making a catch. And with a glut of outfielders in the majors, the Yankees had little choice but to send him to Triple-A once the highly touted prospect was deemed healthy.

But playing in a National League park this week, the Yankees might have decided they could use an extra bat on the bench, and Frazier has been swinging a hot one. He has hit .362 with three homers and four RBIs in 12 games with the Rail Riders.

Frazier played in 39 games with the Yankees last season, batting .231 with four home runs and 17 RBIs.

The Yankees acquired Frazier from the Cleveland Indians in the 2015 Andrew Miller trade. He was the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft.

New York cleared a spot on the roster by designating pitcher David Hale for assignment.
