Commissioner Adam Silver doesn't claim the NBA has solved the problem of teams tanking, admitting Wednesday the league has more work to do in recognizing it.
"I think it would be very difficult to prove, and I think it's a very slippery slope," Silver confessed during an interview with WFAN's "The Afternoon Drive with Carlin, Maggie and Bart."
As someone who has not been a fan of what the Philadelphia 76ers have coined as "the process," Silver added, "One of the changes we made as a result, in part of the 76ers strategy, is we changed the draft lottery yet once again. So now it's unfortunately the sixth time we've changed it. So it just makes the point that it's not quite a science, and we're not there yet in trying to figure out the best balance of competition versus legitimate rebuilding that goes on."
However, Silver praised the current style of basketball in the NBA today, saying it "looks better than it has in years." And regardless of the age minimum conversation, the commissioner wants the G League to be a "genuine path into the NBA for those players who don't want to play college basketball."
Silver added that he hears concerns about superstars congregating together, but said, "I don't think the players have too much power."
He also mentioned how proud he is that the absence of teams from the New York, Los Angeles and Chicago markets hasn't taken away from this year's playoffs.
