Boomer & Gio's Moment of the Day is meant to be something fun/funny or "water-cooler worthy," and when we write it up here for WFAN.com, we try to frame that moment in a humorous way.
Unfortunately, there is really nothing funny about Thom Brennaman's on-air gaffe Wednesday night that may cost him his livelihood, although Gio did try to bring some levity to the situation – vis-à-vis the guys' usual jest of engineer extraordinaire Eddie Scozzare – in what became today's Moment of the Day.
Brennaman was, of course, a big topic of discussion on Thursday's Boomer & Gio Show, because it has to be given the nature of the industry, but the situation made Gio immediately think of Eddie.
"I did think of Eddie Scozzare during the apology when he went to the Man of Faith thing," Gio said. "I just heard Eddie go 'HA!' when he played that card right away."
That's when the levity began.
"Can you also see soft-spoken in the headset Eddie saying, 'uh, Thom, your mic was on,'" Al joked.
Jerry said yes, and out came the Gio impression of Eddie.
"Uh, hello sir, sorry to inform you, but your career is about to end," Gio as Eddie whispered. "That slur you just uttered went out to America, but please, can you do the sponsor before you resign on the air? I'm sorry, I had you potted up, my mistake, but you're done."
