The New York Giants got their man in Saquon Barkley on the opening night of the 2018 NFL Draft, yet with the 34th overall, 66th overall and 69th overall picks upcoming, they aren’t close to finished.

New head coach Pat Shurmur took a quick break from the Giants’ war room ahead of the second round of the draft to chat with WFAN's "The Afternoon Drive with Carlin, Maggie and Bart.”

“He can take the ball — with his skill set — and score with it, and a lot of running backs, who are really good running backs, just can’t quite do that,” Shurmur said, fawning over Barkley and his potential.

But as excited as Shurmur, Dave Gettleman and the Giants organization are about Barkley, their attention has already shifted to the second round of the NFL draft.

Shurmur told CMB that they are “always looking to upgrade at all positions,” when he was asked if there were any specific areas the Giants were targeting for the remainder of the draft. Without unveiling their strategy going forward, Shurmur left the door open about Big Blue's interest in selecting a quarterback. “As we go through it, there’s some quarterbacks on our board.”
