Count NFL analyst Chris Simms among Daniel Jones' biggest fans.
Simms, a former NFL QB and the son of Giants legend Phil Simms, said in a recent interview that he was blown away by Jones' performance as a rookie under tough circumstances.
"Daniel Jones, he was the MVP of the Giants last year, to me," Simms told Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com. "It's not even close."
The Giants surrounded Jones with "really good, not great" players at the skill positions, Simms explained. He added the young quarterback was under constant pressure behind a leaky offensive line, which very likely contributed to his fumbling issues.
The Giants addressed their offensive line early in the draft, selecting tackles in the first and third rounds, including Georgia product Andrew Thomas with the fourth overall pick.
Simms even suggested Jones has additional big-play potential that he has yet to tap into in game action.
"If I have one critique, it's: Use your athleticism more, Daniel Jones."
