The Mets made headlines Sunday, but not for the best of reasons.
Manager Mickey Callaway was involved in a locker room altercation with a beat reporter following the team's disappointing loss to the Cubs, an incident that also saw veteran pitcher Jason Vargas challenge the reporter to a fight.
The organization has apologized to Tim Healey of Newsday, and has since issued fines to both Callaway and Vargas for their respective roles in the situation.
Mike Francesa spoke about the incident during Monday's open of "Mike's On," and while he acknowledges that Callaway was wrong for yelling at a journalist, he was relieved to see the manager show a bit of emotion and fight.
"Now for Mickey, I'm glad he finally yelled at someone," Francesa said during the open of "Mike's On" Monday. "I just wish it was at a player and not a reporter, because it's about time that he yelled at somebody. It's about time he showed a little temper...
"Now do I believe for a second that Mickey was trying to get himself fired? Not for a second."
