Moose and Maggie's Mystery Guest: 7/17/2020

On Friday, Moose and Maggie's Mystery Guest presented by Jersey Mike's brought his own Wonder Years (or maybe An Officer and A Gentleman?) to the 1 p.m. hour on WFAN.

The first question asked of this guest was who would play him in a movie, to which he replied "Fred Savage." Moose then got him to reveal he rowed Lightweight Crew in college and was now in sports media, and after Maggie said "I know this voice" and the guest shot back, "you better," Moose asked who he worked for.

With that discerned, Maggie identified him as…

Ian Rapoport!

Yes, it was NFL Network's own Ian Rapoport who joined Moose and Maggie to kick off their final hour, and he decided to do so without a humble-brag.

"My other choice for who was going to play me in a movie was maybe a very young Richard Gere," Rapoport said, "but that's too much of a weird humble-brag there. Like, come on buddy, who do you think you are?"

Ian, a noted Mets fan, was asked for his take on this MLB season, but of course, with all of the negative news surrounding the NFL this week, the situation in Washington was the huge topic of the day – one Moose went off on in the video you can see by refreshing the page and viewing the video above, and one that Rapoport gave his somber take on about the re

"It was weird, because that was a bombshell, and honestly, really horrifying; it makes me cringe," Rapoport said. "No one should have to put up with that, and the fact that there were several people named and on the record, made it stronger."

To Rapoport's credit, he also chided some of the reports on the internet, and those who made the reports, that added an additional layer of speculation to fuel the fire ahead of the Washington Post's expose being released.

"What's frustrating is that for some reason, there was a weird internet chatter campaign going on that made everyone think it was going to bring down Dan Snyder," he said. "If you're someone who hates the Redskins, you probably didn't get what you were bargaining for, because you thought it would be orgies, and drugs, and sex trafficking, or whatever the internet was saying. It maybe hit a little underwhelming even though it was a really strong story."

And, to close that thought, Rapoport offered this message of hope:

"They say the culture is changing, and I hope it really is."

You can listen to Rapoport's whole segment below. And, of course, you can check out more on-demand audio from Moose & Maggie, or tune in every day to the WFAN.com livestream of the show, now also on Twitch!
