A season-ending news conference Monday did little to clarify the futures of Islanders general manager Garth Snow and coach Doug Weight.

Newsday reported Monday that both Snow and Weight have been led to believe they will return in their roles next season. But co-owner Jon Ledecky told reporters at Northwell Health Ice Center that "we will be evaluating all aspects of our hockey operations. Then we will make decisions on what is best for the future of our club."

The Islanders missed the playoffs for the second straight year this season, finishing 35-37-10 (80 points) and in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division.

Since Snow, a former backup goalie, took over as GM before the 2006-07 season, the Isles have won just one playoff series and have failed to qualify for the postseason eight times in 11 years.

Weight is 59-49-14 as head coach since taking over for the fired Jack Capuano in January 2017.

Ledecky said he and Scott Malkin have failed as owners and apologized to fans. He did not discuss individuals players or coaches and didn't take questions from the media.

Earlier on break-up day, impending free agent John Tavares said he loves being an Islander but added, "I think I’ve earned the right to take my time. I don’t know if it’ll be two weeks, a month, two months."
