VIDEO: David Letterman crashes, trolls Kevin Durant at Nets media day: 'Why do people call you KD?'
Kevin Durant had to field the tough questions at Nets Media Day on Monday morning.
Speaking with reporters ahead of training camp, Durant had an unexpected question late night TV legend David Letterman.
Letterman, after introducing himself as Dave from Basketball Digest, started by asking Durant, "Why do people call you KD?"
"My first name is Kevin, with a K, and my last name is Durant with a D," Durant said, expressionless."
Letterman continued with more questions, including inquiring about the superstar potentially playing for both New York teams this season.
"I just got off the phone with the Dolan family," Letterman said. "They said they're talking to the commissioner now, they're working on a contractual deal that will allow you, when you're not playing for the Nets, days off, you'll be able to play for the Knicks. Comments?"
Durant remained stone-faced during the entire question from the former late-night show host.
"OK Dave, that was the last one," Durant said.
But Letterman's next question broke Durant's emotionless expression.
"What about the Pelicans?" Letterman asked. "When you guys play the Pelicans, does it kind of make you giggle?"
Durant laughed, and said it indeed does make him laugh to hear the Pelicans name. After multiple questions, Letterman was finally able to crack Durant.
