Paige VanZant and Rachel Ostovich will battle in a highly anticipated rematch on Friday, but round two will take place in an entirely different forum.
The two former UFC stars will now go head-to-head at Bare Knuckle FC 19 after VanZant won in 2019 at UFC 143. This will be VanZant’s second bareknuckle fight, helping grow a new corner of fighting that BKFC president and CEO David Feldman says is growing like wildfire.
“It’s growing phenomenally…it’s blowing up,” Feldman told Pete Hoffman on the latest episode of The Fight Fan. “We’ve been doing this thing for 12 years, underground fighting in warehouses, things like that, where we did what we had to do…and here we are, three years after becoming the first legally sanctioned and regulated bareknuckle fighting event in history. So we’re the first in history. We’re catching fire right now.”
This fight will hardly be of the underground variety, with a well-known UFC presence in VanZant helping grow the sport, and Feldman says the best is yet to come for the league.
“We’re paying the fighters very well, we’re blowing up in popularity, we’re treating the fighters very well,” Feldman said. “It’s a recipe for success.”
One Championship Atomweight Kickboxing Champion Janet Todd also joined The Fight Fan to talk about how cheerleading led her to her championship status. Both interviews, and the full episode of The Fight Fan, can be heard below!
