BT: Bill Belichick shouldn't be lock as best coach ever if he never wins without Tom Brady

Bill Belichick and the Patriots were docked two OTA days due to a violation of league rules that reportedly included a special teams meeting, getting a season with mediocre expectations off to a delayed start.

The news got BT wondering about Belichick, widely regarded as the greatest coach in league history after winning six Super Bowls as New England’s head coach. If Belichick can’t elevate the Patriots before retiring, can the debate be reopened over who is the true coaching GOAT?

“I don’t know how you can’t connect the dots on some level,” BT said. “If Bill coaches three more years and doesn’t win a damn thing without Tom Brady, can we at least open up the conversation that maybe he’s not the greatest of all time? Can we maybe go back to Lombardi? If Andy Reid rattles off three or four more, or can we throw Bill Parcells back in the hopper?”

Tom Brady won another title after he left New England, but Belichick and the Patriots haven’t come close, and it doesn’t seem like this season will be any different. Belichick is certainly cemented as one of the greatest ever, and the most accomplished, but BT says there may need to be further discussion if he can’t win anything without Brady.

“He’s a genius, I’m not saying he’s not,” BT said. “I’m wondering if we can open up the conversation, because it’s been shut, and rightfully so, up to a point.”
