Boomer & Gio gearing up for 2023 to be all-timer for New York sports

The year 2023 is still young, and Boomer thinks it could be a historic one for New York sports fans, when considering how competitive all of the local teams are, or are expected to be.

"This could be one of the most interesting years on this radio station that we've had in a long, long time," Boomer said. "You think about the success of the hockey teams, the success of the basketball teams, the baseball teams hopefully bring in success as well, and you have these Jets, who are building a superteam, at least it feels that way if they add Aaron Rodgers, can you imagine how fun that would be?"

The Devils, Rangers, and Islanders all appear on track to make the playoffs in the NHL, with the Devils and Rangers very likely facing off against each other in the first round. Meanwhile, the Knicks appear to be a lock to return to the postseason, while the Nets, despite slumping, still have hopes of making the playoffs, or at the least competing in the play-in tournament. At the college level, the hiring of Rick Pitino has injected a sense of excitement into St. John's that hasn't been felt in decades.

On the diamond, both the Yankees and Mets are considered to be contenders in their respective leagues for the second straight season, while on the gridiron, the Giants are coming off a resurgent playoff season, while the Jets could be on the cusp of adding a Hall of Famer in Aaron Rodgers to thrust themselves into contention.
