As the World Series teams are set, and both are teams that nobody expected to make it nearly that far, the Boomer and Gio crew wondered how exactly is a winning baseball team built.

“You gotta be healthy, and you have to add the right guys at the trade deadline,” Gio said. “In basketball, when you know you don’t have that guy, you know you’re not gonna win. In baseball, you can be anybody and win. You really could.”

Jerry’s answer was admittedly straightforward, but he believed it’s better not to complicate things when it came to putting together a championship roster.

“It’s not all about the pitching or the lineup, but it’s about having the right guys,” Jerry said. “I know it’s a simplistic answer, but that is the answer.”

The guys agree that the playoffs are a crapshoot, but if it’s all about timing, then the best way to build a winner is to find the players that consistently come through when the time is needed.

“You need guys who can hit in the postseason,” Gio said. “Guys who have brass balls and can get that big hit with runners on and two outs.”
