Sal Licata and Jerry Recco stepped in for Boomer & Gio Wednesday, but we still got a Moment of the Day – and it was fill-in Sal giving the debuting fill-ins this afternoon (Colin Russo & Sonny Carton 2-4, Tommy Lugauer with Chris McMonigle from 4-6) a little advice.
“There’s a different animal between producing, hosting, and co-hosting,” Sal remembered. “I used to think I could do shows, and then I did and thought, ‘this is much harder than I ever thought!’” Sal laughed. “I listened and thought, ‘I stink! I’m terrible!’”
Jerry wanted that put on record so his misery had some company, but Sal kept it cool.
“There used to be a reason people made their debut in the overnight. My first show was Christmas Eve 2006, and there’s a reason for that,” Sal said. “Had Mark (Chernoff) put me on in the afternoon…”
“You’d have wet yourself!” Jerry laughed, to which Sal shot back immediately: “I almost did this morning!”
Thankfully he didn’t, nor did he wear Al’s headphones, so life is safe for now, Mrs. Dukes!
