A wild brawl broke out between Giants and Seahawks fans during Big Blue’s loss at MetLife Stadium on Monday night, continuing a growing trend that has raged on this season of fans getting into heated physical altercations amongst each other at NFL games.
Boomer and Gio say it has become an epidemic that has to be stopped.
“We don’t talk about it enough…I don’t think anyone is really caring all that much,” Gio said. “We gawk at it - I’ll gawk at it, I admit it - there are some fight videos I will watch. But now, it’s gotten to the point, you can guarantee a fight at almost every single game no based on these videos.
“We’re not talking about a little push or shove. We are talking about haymakers being thrown, punches to the face, pushing down the stairs, and even death. That’s not an exaggeration.”
Boomer was in full agreement, and believes something needs to be done to curtail that kind of behavior.
“It is a significant problem,” Boomer said. “I don’t know if people do it just because they want to be on the internet or be seen, or it’s being fuelled by alcohol and drugs.”
Gio believes the culture of going to a game can play into it, and if things need to be done to change that culture and typical activities at a football game, then that’s what the league should do.
“The tailgating before the game, getting into the game, drinking goes on, and some people drink and get very angry,” Gio said. “Then they’re team is losing, they spent a lot of money ion the tickets and feel like they’re entitled to say or do anything, and it becomes this toxic cauldron that ends up with someone getting seriously hurt.
“The NFL can’t be silent on this for the whole year. They are ultimately going to have a say in this.”
