Yoshinobu Yamamoto's free agent buzz reportedly could continue through the holidays and up to the deadline on Jan. 5, which only makes Boomer and Gio more upset about the nature of free agency in Major League Baseball.
With no free agency deadline like the NBA, which causes wild summer spending and offseason entertainment for fans, MLB free agents can wait until January of even February to sign mega contracts, which was apparent back in 2019 when Bryce Harper and Manny Machado signed late in the offseason.
Gio says it's not a smart move by the league, especially if it wants its fans invested during the winter.
"Baseball fans are interested, they want to talk about it," Gio said. "And just the way these free agencies are handled in baseball is just infuriating."
Gio also says the lack of action leaves baseball insiders giving pointless updates that only causes confusion, which Boomer sees a lot of as well.
"The maybes, the 'seems likes,' that kind of take from the so-called insiders, it gets a little frustrating, to say the least," Boomer said. "And it leads to nothing."
