Phil Simms was dealt some harsh criticism by a caller, but was she being fed lines from someone on the inside? Boomer & Gio investigated in Tuesday's Moment of the Day!
Nancy called into the show Tuesday morning to give Boomer some very flattering compliments, but the discussion took an abrupt turn when Simms became the target of some sudden slander.
"Let's be clear," Jerry Recco said when prefacing the Moment of the Day. "I want to be very up front about this. The reason she called was to tell Boomer how good looking he was during the Super Bowl broadcast on Sunday….for some reason, she was prodded to turn that to the Phil Simms appearance."
Indeed, Nancy's kind words toward Boomer curiously took a drastic turn once her attention turned toward Simms.
"Very sharp, Boomer," Nancy said on the call. "But I think the issue that we're having with Phil is two points. The hair color, he needs to change the hair color. I think it tends to go on the orange. It gets to be too orange. He also looks very pale on TV. Eddie and I were speaking earlier, and he kind of looks like he's embalmed sometimes. They need to put color on him because he's too pale."
Eddie? Eddie Scozzare? That name drop, along with a couple other word drops, piqued the interest of detective Gio.
"The embalmment line, I knew it was Eddie," Gio said. "I knew the second that she said that…I knew you gave her that word. Eddie and her were talking about it during the call screen process. So Eddie is feeding her the embalm lines. That's what I think."
Gio even broke out in his Eddie impersonation to make the case that Nancy had been assisted in her Simms slander.
"'I would go with embalmed, Nancy,'" Gio said, mocking Eddie. "'If I may, can I give you a couple suggestions on what to call Phil? I would say maybe attending a wake, something like that maybe.'"
Was that how it really went down? Let's just say if Eddie was in an interrogation room, he would have quickly crumbled.
"Almost verbatim," Eddie said of Gio's impersonation.
