Coming off another Blueshirts shellacking of the Flyers, Boomer decided to play the Rangers name game with Al "Hughes" Dukes…and it did not go well for Al, but did go well enough for us to be the Moment of the Day.
When first asked Alexis Lafreniere's name, Al's response was: "Juggs?"
"Juggs Lafreniere, great name!" Gio laughed, and when Boomer said "Alexis," Al instinctively said "Kovalev!"
Alexei Kovalev is a real person, but alas, not the one Boomer wanted here. Al did get Jacob Trouba (because Jerry said "think deGrom") but then couldn't get Chris Kreider despite singing a song about him. Al then called Ryan Strome "Alex," and the coup de grace came with this guess for Artemi Panarin's first name.
"Ikschneve?" Al blurted out.
"Ikschneve? No one in the history of the world has been named Ikschneve!" Gio laughed. "That's like the Russian version of McClutherness!"
And now, we're gonna have to get some Ikschneve McClutherness shirseys on the WFAN store…would he be number 69?
