Boomer & Gio wanted to do something nice for Chris Lopresti, but wound up running into a Low Talker during Friday's Moment of the Day.
C-Lo had run into some hard times, and Boomer & Gio decided to try and get him a pool to cheer him up and liven up his summer, so they got Steve from Central Jersey Pools on the horn.
The only issue was, Steve had no idea who he was talking to.
Steve had never heard of Boomer, Gio, Mike Francesa, Chris Russo, Mike and the Mad Dog, or just about anything involving the FAN.
"I guess I'm not a big sports guy," Steve said.
The other issue was the volume of Steve's voice. He continued to sound like he was whispering into the phone, leading to concerns over whether he was being held hostage. Turns out, as it was in the classic Seinfeld episode, that was just the natural volume of his voice.
"No, I'm not whispering," Steve said after Boomer finally asked about it.
The crew said they would think about getting the above-ground pool from Steve, but whispering ways were a concern.
"We can't get a pool from that guy," Gio said.
Boomer had another way of looking at it, especially given the fact that Steve was so out of the sports world, it could only mean his life was hyper-focused on pool quality.
"That's the kind of guy you want," Boomer said. "He is a dedicated pool guy."
