Boomer backs NFL video replay after Al Dukes rips ending to Week 1 opener

Al Dukes spent part of the Warm-Up Show ripping what NFL video replay has become after a potential Ravens touchdown as time expired was overturned after replay showed Isaiah Likely’s toe on the back line of the end zone, ending the game and sealing a win for the Chiefs.

The debate carried over to the Morning Show, as Boomer stood up for the use of replay and getting the call right.

“A football field is 120 yards long. Not 120 yards and one inch,” Boomer said. “The guy stepped out of bounds.

“There’s lines there. There’s rules. You understand that, right? If we sat here and did not have replay, and that was considered a touchdown, we would be blistering the NFL and the referees.”

Al understands the benefits of replay, but believes it has gone too far in its use and impact on the game.

“Replay was put in for egregious errors. This was so miniscule,” Al said. “We are at a microscopic camera level at this point.”

Boomer didn’t have that level of replay in his playing days, but if he did, he would have embraced the opportunity to get everything right, even if it meant stopping play to go under the hood for review.

“It doesn’t bother me,” Boomer said. “As a former player, I’d like to get all the calls right. I wouldn’t want to be victimized by a call that is completely egregious.”
