Shohei Ohtani, via his new interpreter, issued a statement on Monday declaring that he was lied to and stolen from by his former interpreter, the recently fired Ippei Mizuhara, and that Mizuhara took $4.5 million from the Dodgers superstar to pay off gambling debts.

Ohtani didn’t take questions, and Boomer says he still has a lot that he would ask.

“I still have a lot of questions about Shohei Ohtani,” Boomer said. “I have questions about his financial advisors, I have a lot of questions about how long this was going on for.

“I’m sorry, you can’t tell me that $4.5 million goes missing out of your bank account, and you have no idea. I’m sorry, that just does not add up. Because he didn’t take questions, we did not get answers to any of that.”

Ohtani will eventually have to field questions, and Boomer is convinced that as time moves on, more will be revealed, and new revelations will likely show that Ohtani wasn’t as blindsided as he claimed to be.

“I’m sorry, I’m just too cynical, and I’m a New Yorker,” Boomer said. “You and I both feel like we’re not getting the whole story here.”
