Boomer gets into it with Islanders fans over hits on Rangers

Boomer started Wednesday's show by ripping the Islanders for their hits on Mika Zibanejad and Vincent Trocheck late in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Rangers, and Isles fans were ready to call in and fight back.

Oren on Long Island wanted to know what Boomer was crying about, particularly with Adam Pelech's collision with Zibanejad at center ice, but Boomer said there was an argument for intent.

"Our head coach, who has been around hockey his entire life and is one of the winningest head coaches in the league right now, basically called it a vicious hit," Boomer said. "He kind of skates into him a little bit….from the higher point of view, you can see that he kind of skates over to him."

Rob in Lindenhurst then called to ask what Boomer was "bitching" about, and Boomer stood up for his objectivity as a hockey fan, even with his Rangers obsession.

"Listen, you little bitch. Let me tell you something," Boomer said. "When our guy Matt Rempe ran over two Devils…I said 'that's unacceptable, and he has to be suspended.' So I'm pretty consistent with this."
