Boomer liked Rangers/Devils brawl, but Gio wanted better camera angles to see all fights

In honor of the Rangers and Devils collectively dropping the gloves to start Wednesday's Hudson River Rivalry with a line brawl, the Boomer and Gio crew began Thursday morning's show with everyone going at it before actually diving into the news of the day.

That news was of course the Blueshirts and their bitter rivals all breaking out in fights at the start of the game, an eventual 4-3 Rangers win to complete the season sweep of New Jersey.

"I've never seen eight guys get game misconducts to start a game like that," Boomer said. "I've never seen that before. "It was definitely interesting. For people that were actually at the game, I'm sure it was insane.

"Not a lot of people like it. I like it. I think most fans like it. If you were watching it, you loved it."

Boomer was more concerned about getting the two points as a Rangers fan, and New York accomplished that task as well. As for Gio, he wanted a better view of all the fights, which he believed was a better viewing experience back in 2012 when John Tortorella's Rangers and Pete DeBoer's Devils got into a similar all-out brawl at puck drop back when NHL games were broadcast on NBC.

"I thought they did a terrible job capturing the whole thing," Gio said. "They were just focused on Rempe and MacDermid. The angle you wanted was the one from up top. That was the best angle, because everybody is just beating on each other."
