It was hard to see Boomer and the rest of the NFL Today crew during halftime of Sunday’s AFC title game, as the lights on the outdoor set wouldn’t turn on at the start of their halftime show.

Boomer revealed Monday that, as he was told, the darkness was a result of someone tripping over a wire.

“I’m always glad I have to be the one who answers these things…since I’m here every Monday after the AFC Championship game, when something goes awry, I have to answer it,” Boomer said. “As I was told, when we do these shows on the sidelines, there are about 100 different wires leasing to so many different things, and believe it or not, I was told that somebody tripped over a wire and pulled the electric out of the socket to the light box.

“As we’re sitting there and getting ready to go on, I got JJ [Watt] sitting next to me and I’m like ‘JJ, we don’t have any lights.’”

But Boomer and the crew pushed through before the lights came on during the halftime segment, but not before they had to navigate not being able to see what was on their monitors, nor were they able to see some members on the desk next to them.

“Not only did we not have lights, we didn’t have electric to our monitors,” Boomer said. “As we’re speaking over what was supposed to be the highlights of the first half that we never saw…when we came back, you couldn’t see JB!”
