Boomer signs extension with WFAN, stepping away from The NFL Today

Boomer’s legendary run at WFAN isn’t coming to an end any time soon.

As announced on Boomer and Gio on Monday morning, Boomer has signed an extension with the FAN, an “extended” extension as he said, staying put with Audacy for the foreseeable future. This new contract extension will bring Esiason past 20 years as morning drive host at WFAN, making him the longest-tenured morning show host in the station's history, surpassing Don Imus

“For the last two months, I’ve been trying to figure out what I wanted to do and where I want to be,” Boomer said. “One of the places I want to be is here at WFAN, working for Audacy and Chris Oliviero…I enjoy this more than anything. So I have extended extensively into the future.”

In another major bit of news, Boomer announced that he will be stepping away from his Sunday post on The NFL Today on CBS, which he has been a part of for decades.

“I am stepping away from the NFL Today….I really thought the Super Bowl was my swan song,” Boomer said. “I feel like the way CBS handled us guys out there in Las Vegas, it was amazing.

“It’s been an unbelievable run for me. I feel so grateful and privileged to be there for 22 years.”

Boomer has been a fixture of NFL coverage on Sunday mornings, but luckily for football fans, his reaction to NFL weekends will continue to be on WFAN on Monday mornings for years to come.
