With Tiki Barber moving on to do “Evan and Tiki” in the afternoons, WFAN’s new show in the middays will feature Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata.
For BT, he got the first choice that came to mind when he learned he would be getting a new co-host.
“When I was made aware of this, there was one name that came to mind,” BT said. “I’m pumped, man. There was one guy that I said, ‘If we don’t kill each other first, and we make this thing work, it’s going to be must-listen explosions every single day.’
“We will be fired up, and we’ll probably be too fired up. Once we learn each other, and to trust each other, then you can just come out and be you, and once that happens, this show is gonna rock. I think, in a lot of ways, old school FAN.”
Sal will be moving on from the overnights and bringing his famous energy to the middays, mixing it up with BT, who he has known since their early days at SNY.
“First time we ever worked together…I was working with BT on ‘The Wheelhouse,’ and we were separated by two studios,” Sal said. “BT comes in, and he goes, ‘OK Licata, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way.’ We’ve both evolved, and it’s totally different. Trust, respect, all that stuff, and we’re arguing sports, not each other. I don’t care about the name, ego, none of that. I want to entertain and have fun doing that, and being No. 1. I want to do things with midday that has never been done before.
“Put the mics on, let’s go baby, I’m ready!”
The new midday show will debut on July 24, but first, BT gave his thanks and best wishes to Tiki, his co-host for over a decade.
“Tiki is a great guy...he’s a really smart guy,” BT said. “I think everyone at the station knows that. He’s a good dude.
“There are certain points in your life…when both of my children were born, I was partners with Tiki. Those are things, when you’re going through fatherhood for the first time, it’s not easy. You gotta come in and do a talk show and be sharp and entertaining…and then the conversations about life.”
