BT & Sal: What are worst case scenarios for Giants and Jets this season?

The most anticipated NFL season in years is about to arrive in New York, with both the Jets and Giants coming into the year with high expectations.

But the same could be said for the New York baseball teams before the season began, and it turned into a monumental disaster, with both teams all but out of the running for a playoff spot.

So, if the football season somehow follows a similar trajectory, what would be the worst case scenarios for each team? BT and Sal talked it out.

I'd say 7-10 is absolutely the world stops spinning," BT said, not believing that was realistic, even for a worst case scenario. "So, 8-9, and no playoffs. I think 9-8, barring something catastrophic to Rodgers, I'd say 9-8 would be nowhere close to what I thought.

"To me, 9-8 and no playoffs would be almost end of the world from a football standpoint."

Sal agrees that 9-8 seems like worst case scenario for the Jets, though with the extra Wild Card spot, he believes that would still result in Gang Green ending its historic playoff drought.

"I can't envision the Jets not making the playoffs," Sal said. "If you draw up a worst-case scenario, maybe they go 9-8 and sneak in."

As for the Giants, BT could see them finishing with a worse record than the Jets' nightmare scenario, considering their schedule.

"Giants, I could see 7-10," BT said. "I think the Giants, organizationally, are set up to be good for a while, but I think they could take a step back in terms of how many games they win."
