It wasn't an enjoyable trade deadline for either New York fanbase on Tuesday, as the Mets held a fire sale to officially punt on a season in which they boasted the highest payroll in league history, while the Yankees mainly stood pat despite several glaring needs.
But BT says the Mets come out as the clear deadline winners of the city, because while their season was an epic failure, at least they have a plan.
"The Yankees have no plan. Just listen to Brian Cashman," BT said. "That is the definition of either cluelessness with a trace of resignation. That was one of the most pathetic Brian Cashman cuts that I have ever heard.
"He sounds beaten down, the team looks beaten down, the moves he has made reflects a beaten down general manager who is no longer an asset."
The Mets may have frustrated some fans by looking ahead to 2025, or even 2026 as their next chance to go all in, but BT says the Yankees have no future, at least not with the way they are currently operating.
"The Mets are adaptable and forward thinking," BT said. "They had a plan, it didn't work, they pivoted…their plan is visible.
"The Yankees are a mix of arrogance and incompetence."
