The Chiefs are heading back to the Super Bowl for a third straight season, and are one win away from becoming the first team in NFL history to three-peat as champions.
The win came with its share of controversy and criticism in regards to some crucial officiating calls, as it always seems to with Kansas City nowadays, and Brandon Tierney went off on the refs for their performance in Sunday’s AFC title game.
“They were atrocious yesterday,” BT said. “I’m tired of doing this song and dance every time there’s a big game…I feel like the Bills were cheated a little bit. More than a little bit.
“How many freaking times are the Chiefs going to get aided by the referees? It’s ridiculous!”
The biggest controversial call was when Josh Allen tried to sneak a first down in the fourth quarter, and by some angles, he appeared to have reached the first-down marker. But after review, the ruling that he was short of the line to gain was upheld, resulting in a turnover on downs and setting up the Chiefs for what became the eventual game-winning drive. BT also ripped the call of a catch when Xavier Worthy went up for a 50/50 ball inside the 5-yard line, and although the ball appeared to touch the ground, it was ruled a catch and upheld after review.
Tony Romo didn’t agree with the call on the TV broadcast, and BT says it was just one of multiple key calls that went Kansas City’s way, which he believes is becoming all-too common.
“I don’t want to watch the Chiefs anymore. I really don’t…I’m just Chief’d out,” BT said.
“If the calls went the way they should have gone…I just don’t think the Chiefs earned it.”
