Scott Rolen is the latest entry into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and Brandon Tierney clearly isn't a fan of the result.
In fact, he hasn't been a fan of the Hall in quite some time, not while players with Rolen's numbers get in and other stars of yesteryear remain without a plaque in Cooperstown.
"How is anybody gonna tell me that Scott Rolen is more important to baseball than Thurman Munson?" BT said. "Are you out of your mind? Thurman Munson was the catcher on a back-to-back championship team, and died in a plane crash at the tail end of his prime. Are you serious? Don Mattingly was a modern Stan Musial before he hurt his back, and Scott Rolen is in? Come on, man. I'm losing so much respect and interest."
With constant debates swirling around players' Hall of Fame candidacies, BT has simply grown tired of arguing about the resumes of players he deems average, while others like Pete Rose haven't been inducted.
"How can something that was always so special, something that generated such nationwide reverence, turn into something so divisive, and eventually so benign?" BT said. "How does Major League Baseball allow this to happen? Personal agendas, political agendas, it's just a mess. And for years, racist agendas. It's so flawed, it's pathetic.
"I don't know how anybody, and I mean the commissioner, how do you not intervene to attempt to overhaul the entire thing? It's a joke."
What would BT do if he were Rob Manfred? Inducting Rose would be a start, but to also publicly acknowledge that the system is broken, and needs to be fixed.
"Sit down, be unfiltered, look us in the eye, and say, 'It's a mess,'" BT said. "At least is you present to us that you have to right some wrongs…the inconsistencies are a joke. It's become maddening. I used to love this. I don't even care who the hell gets in anymore. It doesn't matter to me."
