The Rangers are World Series champions, and Keith says their title is far from being the product of a playoff crapshoot.
Rather, Texas' success is a blueprint for the Yankees and Mets to follow to win their next title, starting with having a willingness to spend money on the right players.
"They do it the right way. You understand, you have to go spend," C-Mac said. "I know, especially as we relate everything to our local baseball teams, the Mets have an owner who is obviously willing to spend…and the Yankees, the idea that you don't have to spend $300 million to win a championship, and 'Look at the Rays,' and 'What about the money I'm putting in the Pirates' pockets?' and all the complaining.
"The Rangers went out there and turned around a team that lost 100 games two years ago, went out and got Marcus Semien, went out and got Corey Seager…you go out and get great players. Plain and simple."
The other lesson to take away from this playoff run? Go after players who have a proven ability to get it done in October, which the Rangers did when they signed 2020 World Series MVP Corey Seager after the 2021 campaign.
"Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't…it's a little bit about spending money, but it's also about guys who just perform well," C-Mac said. "You have to get guys who show up in the big moments. It's not easy to figure out, but you look at it, when you have a World Series MVP in Seager…he's the one who disappoints me most for the Yankees…someone who has proven it."
