C-Mac: Too much heat on Dan Campbell's coaching in Sunday's loss

Dan Campbell heard heavy criticism and scepticism for some of his aggressive decisions in Sunday’s collapse against the 49ers, but C-Mac says the Lions head coach is taking too much heat.

After all, Campbell was simply being the same coach that got Detroit to Sunday’s NFC title game.

“I understand the criticism, and I would have kicked in every single situation…but we all knew that this was how Dan Campbell coaches,” C-Mac said. “This is the same guy who took this Lions team - that has been a losing franchise for forever - and turned them around in the course of three years, to the point where they were the trendy pick to get to this point…it’s the same guy. This is how he played. That doesn’t excuse every decision he’s ever made…of course there are decisions that supercede the way you go about playing football.”

C-Mac disagreed with multiple decisions by Campbell on Sunday, but that doesn’t mean he was surprised by Campbell’s tactics, nor did he think they were so over the top that they deserved to be universally eviscerated, but hindsight is 20/20.

“I honestly don’t know if any of these meet that criteria where it’s so obvious that you can’t do it,” C-Mac said.
